Moving-Out

End of Fall 2024: December 17, 2024 at noon

• Students returning for Winter Study 2025 need to leave campus within 24 hours of their last final but no later than the date above. Items may be left in their room for their return, but some preparations for the winter break should be taken, including:

  • Take important belongings such as room key(s), IDs, passports, medications, glasses, etc.

  • Clean and unplug fridges and microwaves (ensure you properly defrost your fridge)

  • Close and lock your windows

  • Close you blinds/shades

  • Turn off your lights

  • Close and lock your door

• Students not enrolled in Winter Study 2025 (mid-year graduates, study away, and withdrawals) need to perform a check-out within 24 hours of their last final but no later than the date above. See 'Move-Out Steps & Instructions' and 'Cleaning Checklist'

End of Winter Study 2025: Saturday, February 1, 2025 at noon

• Students remaining for Spring 2025 do not need to take any action.

• Students not enrolled in Spring 2025 (mid-year graduates, study away, and withdrawals) need to perform a check-out within 24 hours of their last class but no later than the date above. See 'Move-Out Steps & Instructions' and 'Cleaning Checklist'

End of Spring 2025: Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Noon
Graduation Seniors are allowed to remain in their assigned rooms, and their move-out deadline is Sunday, June 8, 2025, by 5 PM.

• Students need to perform a check-out within 24 hours of their last final but no later than the date above. See 'Move-Out Steps & Instructions' and 'Cleaning Checklist'

Students are expected to abide by the College's official opening and closing dates for campus housing and to make their travel plans accordingly. Students who are found in College residences outside of their approved housing dates will be fined $35 per day, a reduction of 10 Housing Points per day, and may be reported to the Dean's Office for disciplinary action.

HOW CLEAN IS CLEAN? Use this guide to ensure your room and common room is clean and ready for move-out:

• Clear out all personal belongings - check all the drawers and behind all the furniture.

• Remove all trash and recycling and place it in the appropriate receptacles

• Move furniture back to its original placement

• Dust all furniture & inside of drawers

• Wipe out window sill and dust blinds

• Ensure the window screens are in

• Close and lock the windows.

• Wipe down any shelves

• Carefully clean light switches, outlets

• Vacuum carpet & Sweep hard surfaces

• Wash and clean out the refrigerator and microwave

If it is determined that a student did not remove all of their items from their room, dispose of their recycling (aka unused DRM boxes), leave by their specified departure date, remove all trash from their room, or did not turn their key in, a minimum reduction of 10 points will be assessed to the student’s Housing Points for the next academic year and may be reported to the Dean’s Office for disciplinary action.

It is the student’s responsibility to leave their rooms clean of all items when they leave. Everything must be removed. During the spring move-out period, students are able to take all unwanted clothing, bedding, etc., to the Give It Up! donation boxes located throughout campus.

Food items will need to be thrown away. The student should also throw away all other items, such as bathroom and kitchen items. These cannot be donated or stored for the summer.

Items such as driver’s license, passport, keys, birth certificates that are accidentally left will be set aside, and attempts will be made to contact the student.

Donate your gently used clothes, linens, and other items to the Give It Up! pods located throughout campus. Not only will you lighten your packing and keep high-quality items out of the trash, but we'll also make these available to students next fall!

Note: Give It Up! will be available beginning in late spring for May move-out.
